Aldi changes rules: Customers must be prepared for major changes

Aldi responds Corona pandemic forces discounters to take a number of measures. The innovations apply to both Aldi North and Aldi South. Customers have to adapt.

With the increasing number of new corona infections Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd are tightening their hygiene and protection measures to protect customers from infection with the virus. The aim is to make shopping “as pleasant, easy and safe as possible, even during the Corona pandemic”, explains the discounter in a press release.

New protective measures at Aldi against corona

The changes include the extensive expansion of hygiene measures. The concrete changes are as follows:

<Hygiene stations: In most branches of Aldi Süd there is already a hygiene station in the entrance area, and in the course of the month this should be the case for "almost all". By the end of the year, Aldi North and Aldi South will also have an additional hygiene station near the shopping trolleys in all branches.

<Deposit machines: In the branches of Aldi Süd the deposit machine is reprogrammed. After a few seconds, the dispenser will automatically issue the coins so that customers no longer have to press the button on the machine.

<Strong floor markings and signs: Clearly visible floor markings and stickers as well as signs should indicate compliance with the hygiene rules. At Aldi Süd, many branches also use screens. In front of the Aldi Nord branches, there should also be information on distance regulation in the outdoor area.

<Strong entrance restrictions: According to the law, only one customer per 10 square meters of sales area is allowed to enter the store. In order to comply with this, there may be entrance restrictions. Where necessary, the stores will also be equipped with a digital access control system.

<Hygiene protection at the checkout: To protect both customers and employees, all branches have Plexiglas panels at the checkout
<Employee protection: Employees of Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd receive free mouth-nose covers. Disinfectant is also provided.
