ASUS seems to be planning to include overkill specs inside the ZenFone 8 Mini. A new report, by DealnTech, reveals some information. Take this information with a grain of salt, though.
The source claims that the device will arrive in five configurations, and is referring to it as ZenFone 8 Mini / Flip, as it’s not sure what name will ASUS go with. Its RAM capacity will range from 6GB, all the way to 12GB.
The base model of the device will offer 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The one after that will come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Another 8GB RAM variant will ship with 256GB of storage.
The ASUS ZenFone 8 Mini will offer overkill specs with up to 16GB of RAM
A 12GB RAM model will also be available, and ship with 256GB of storage. The most expensive variant will include 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It is not mentioned whether the phone will include a microSD card slot, though.
The source also claims that a 4,000mAh battery will be included in the package, with 30W fast charging. That is likely wired charging, though, as wireless charging probably won’t be included, but we’ll see.
The ZenFone 8 Mini is expected to feature a 5.92-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. We’re guessing that will be a fullHD+ panel, but we’re not sure. This could become the smallest smartphone to offer the Snapdragon 888 SoC as well.
A 64-megapixel main camera is expected to be included
A 64-megapixel main camera (Sony’s IMX686) is expected to be included, along with several other units that we don’t have any information about just yet. Android 11 is likely to come pre-installed on the device.
The device will likely include a display camera hole, replacing the flip camera from the ZenFone 7. ASUS already confirmed that a headphone jack will be included, along with IP68 certification. ASUS will announce its ZenFone 8 handsets on May 12.
