Galaxy S23 Ua will get an upgraded uawide camera

We have long known that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ua will feature a 200MP primary rear camera, an upgrade from last year’s 108MP shooter. But the rest of the camera setup on the back is pretty much unchanged. The device is still getting a 12MP uawide lens and two 10MP zoom cameras with 3X and 10X optical zoom support. Turns out the uawide lens is an upgrade too, even though the resolution remains the same. Samsung is using a new Sony sensor on the upcoming Ua.

According to new information passed along on Twitter, the Galaxy S23 Ua will feature the Sony IMX564 12MP sensor for its uawide camera. Last year’s Ua employed the Sony IMX563. The new sensor appears to be a generational upgrade from the Japanese firm. Unfortunately, details about it are scarce. It’s unclear what changes the Galaxy S23 Ua’s uawide lens will bring over its predecessor. With the resolution remaining the same, we aren’t expecting major hardware changes. We may still get substantial improvements to the picture quality thanks to improved camera software and processing.

For the two zoom cameras, Samsung is sticking to the Sony IMX754 sensors on the Galaxy S23 Ua. But the selfie camera changes. We already know that the new flagship will get a 12MP front camera, a resolution downgrade from the 40MP unit on last year’s model, though that doesn’t necessarily mean poor image quality. We now know that the new sensor is Samsung’s in-house ISOCELL 3LU. The Korean firm has yet to officially launch this 12MP camera. Hopefully, it will capture better selfies than the 40MP camera on last year’s model.

The Galaxy S23 Ua may bring Samsung’s biggest camera upgrade in years

There has been no dearth of Galaxy S23 leaks in recent months. Those leaks have suggested that the Ua model will bring Samsung’s biggest camera upgrade in years. The phone will capture 8K videos at 30fps (frames per second), up from 24fps on the Galaxy S22 Ua. It will also record 4K portrait videos at 30fps, up from 1080p. We are also expecting improved details, low-light photography, and better zoom shots than before. It now remains to be seen whether the Galaxy S23 Ua lives up to the expectations. Early camera samples from the phone have been promising, but we can’t say for sure until the device is officially out. Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S23 trio on February 1.
