Huawei readying a new Windows 10 desktop PC for launch outside China

  • Huawei is set to launch its first desktop PC outside of China.
  • The Mate Station S sports an AMD Ryzen chipset with 8GB of RAM.
  • Malaysia is likely to be the first launch market, but no price is available just yet.

Huawei is poised to launch its first desktop PC in a market beyond China. As spotted by HuaweiCentral, the Mate Station S could soon be available to purchase in Malaysia. Huawei’s touting the machine as a compact computer with a custom cooling system that ensures quiet operation and minimal throttling.

The Mate Station S differs vastly from the early desktop products, but it does seem to be a redesigned Mate Station B515 — a Windows machine it launched in China late last year.

While it features slightly tweaked aesthetics, the Mate Station S also runs an AMD Ryzen 5 4600G CPU mated to 8GB of DDR4 3,200MHz RAM and 256GB of M.2 SSD storage. There are additional expansion slots, too. It’s unclear what firm supplies the motherboard or if it’s a Huawei-developed unit. The Mate Station S also runs Windows 10, which should make it a much more attractive proposition beyond China.

Huawei’s not chiefly targeting individual buyers, though. The Mate Station S still includes a serial port at its rear, pointing to its utility as a business-orientated machine. A VGA port and HDMI port are your video output options, while a USB-C port is available up front. Wireless options feature too, including Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band Wi-Fi.

Huawei’s also selling the Mate Station S bundled with a 23.8-inch display and an optional smart keyboard. The latter packs Huawei’s one-tap sharing compatibility with its mobile devices, and a fingerprint scanner.

There’s no word on pricing for the Huawei Mate Station S just yet. While the PC is listed on Huawei’s Malaysian store, pricing and availability details are absent. We’ve reached out to Huawei regarding international availability details and will update this article if/when we gain a reply.
