Motorola has launched a new entry-level Android smartphone, the Moto E13. We have seen the handset in a few leaks over the past month or so. It’s now official with an affordable price tag and a humble set of specs, including Android 13 Go.
Moto E13 design, specs, and features
The Moto E13 is a budget-friendly phone, and that’s visible when you look at it from the front. The device has chunky bezels around the display, particularly the chin. The screen is a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD panel with a 60Hz refresh rate (via), which is a bare minimum today. Don’t expect crisp images and smooth scrolling here. The V-shaped notch at the top houses a 5MP selfie camera with features like Auto Smile Capture and Face Beauty.
This budget phone from Motorola looks fairly premium on the back, though. It gets a sleek camera housing where you’ll find 13MP f/camera and an LED flash unit. The camera has an F/2.2 aperture and boasts Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). Motorola is offering several AI-powered camera features, including face recognition and Auto Smile Capture. The Moto E13 can capture FHD videos at 30fps (frames per second) with both front and rear cameras.
Under the hood, this phone has UNISOC’s entry-level T606 octa-core processor operating at a maximum frequency of 1.6GHz. The chipset is paired with ARM’s Mali-G57 MP1 GPU (650MHz) and 2GB/4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. You can insert a microSD card of up to 1TB capacity inside this phone. So storage shouldn’t be a problem, though the processor and RAM amount may not be ideal for multitasking, or running heavy games.
Other highlights of the Moto E13 include a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging support via a USB Type-C port, an IP52-rated water-repellent body, Dolby Atmos-enabled single speaker, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Android 13 Go. The whole package measures 164.19 x 74.95 x 8.47mm in dimension and weighs 179.5 grams, which is relatively lightweight for its size.
Price and availability
Motorola has priced the Moto E13 at €119.99 (approx. $130). That’s ideal pricing considering that the device only gives you the essentials of a smartphone and nothing much. The handset will be available in Cosmic Black, Creamy White, and Aurora Green in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. Motorola doesn’t seem to be selling it in the US. We will let you know if the company ever changes its mind.
