The upcoming OnePlus 9 series smartphones will ship with two years of warranty. This information has been confirmed by the company’s CEO, Pete Lau. He confirmed it via his official Weibo page.
Do note that some regions of the world already mandate companies to offer 2 years of warranty on electronics. The EU is a good example, as that is the law throughout the European Union.
The OnePlus 9 series will offer two years of warranty it seems
Most of the world, however, does not. Well, Based on the information provided by Pete Lau, OnePlus itself will offer 2 years of warranty, and it will probably appeal to every market the phones are officially sold in.
That is not something Pete Lau directly confirmed, as this information popped up on Weibo, but it’s probably going to happen. The company actually surveyed a lot of people, and found out that users usually keep their flagship phones around two years.
So, offering them two years of warranty will give them some peace of mind. OnePlus will also make sure that its software offering, OxygenOS, is well-covered. That is nothing new, though.
OnePlus promised 2 years of OS updates a while back, and an extra year of security updates. So, the OnePlus 9 series will get support from the company until 2024, including an extra year of security patches, of course.
The devices will become official on March 23
The OnePlus 9 series smartphones will launch on March 23. The company will announce the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro as part of it, and possibly the 9R as well. The 9R hasn’t been mentioned by the company just yet, unlike the other two.
The OnePlus 9R is tipped to be a mid-range smartphone, and it may be available in some markets only. The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are both flagship-level smartphones.
The OnePlus Watch is also tipped to arrive on March 23. That device will become the company’s very first smartwatch. Not much is known thus far, but OnePlus already teased its arrival. While we wait for more information on the OnePlus 9 series, check out our preview.
