A supplier of alternative housing shells for the Playstation 5 must cancel all orders.
Polarize the shape and color of the Playstation 5. Many players like the slim, black and white case – and the others will probably have to live with the color scheme for the time being. Sony has now got a British company to cancel all customer pre-orders for alternative housing shells – so-called faceplates.
The company first got into trouble with Sony for calling their website Platestation5.com. After the name was changed to CustomizeMyPlates.com, Sony lawyers were still not satisfied.
Instead, they would have enforced the ban on sales with reference to patent law, as Videogameschronicle.com learned directly from the company concerned.
In the meantime, all orders for the faceplates, which cost around 40 US dollars, have been canceled. On the internet, the community has responded in a strikingly positive way to the shells in camouflage, blue or black – apparently there is definitely a need here.
Sony has not yet announced its own faceplates. It is probably only a matter of time before the company launches its own housing switches. The white plastic parts can be removed relatively easily and without tools – this can be seen clearly in the manufacturer's teardown video.
So far, no other colored versions of the Dualsense controller have been presented. The predecessor Dualshock has been available in many different versions for a long time. With the Playstation 5, it makes sense to offer coordinated faceplates and gamepads. In addition, sooner or later there will be special editions of the PS5 in special colors or with a print.
The Playstation 5 will be released on November 12, 2020 in the USA and Japan, as well as in a number of other countries. In Europe, the Playstation 5 should be available from November 19, 2020, but according to the current status all contingents are sold out in advance. In addition to a 500 Euro PS5 with drive, there is a drive-less, but equally powerful version.
