  • Nubia has announced global details for the Red Magic 6 series.
  • The global variants also contain battery and charging-related tweaks compared to the Chinese versions.

The Nubia Red Magic 6 series are the first phones with a 165Hz screen, making for a huge leap on paper over 90Hz and 120Hz refresh rates. These phones launched in China earlier this month, but Nubia has now revealed global pricing and availability.

The Chinese brand confirmed that the Red Magic 6 and Red Magic 6 Pro will be available globally from April 15, with pre-orders kicking off on April 9. More specifically, the phones will be available in Asia-Pacific regions, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and North America.

Expect to pay $599/€599/£509 for the sole 12GB/128GB Red Magic 6 variant. Want the Pro model? Then the sole 16GB/256GB option is available for $699/€699/£599. Either way, this comes in below the Samsung Galaxy S21 and Xiaomi Mi 11, making it quite possibly the cheapest Snapdragon 888 phones available globally.

What are you getting for the price?

Aside from the 165Hz OLED screen (6.8-inch, FHD+), the two phones also share a Snapdragon 888 SoC, a 64+8+2MP rear camera setup, an 8MP selfie camera, and capacitive shoulder triggers. Other notable shared features include a 3.5mm port, high RPM fans for cooling, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Otherwise, the standard Red Magic 6 simply offers less RAM and storage than the Pro variant. The Pro variant also offers a heat dissipation back plate for improved cooling, in addition to the aforementioned fans.

Nubia revealed that the two global models actually share the same 5,050mAh battery and 66W charging capabilities too, although it only comes with a 30W charger in the box. Meanwhile, the Chinese Red Magic 6 actually has a bigger battery than its Pro stablemate (5,050mAh versus 4,500mAh). The Chinese Pro model also gained 120W charging, while the standard Chinese variant offered 66W charging.
