As always, Samsung has been quick in rolling out the latest security update to its device this month as well. Over the past couple of weeks, the company has seeded the June 2021 Android security patch to over a dozen smartphone models. A few more Galaxy devices are now joining this ever-growing list. The June security update is rolling out to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 series and the Galaxy S20 FE 5G globally.
The June security update reaches more Samsung smartphones
The Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ua are currently picking up the new security maintenance release (SMR) in several major markets across the world, including the US and Europe. The update for US versions of the phones comes with the build number N98xxxUES2DUE1, depending on the device model and carrier. It’s rolling out on carrier variants from AT&T, Sprint, Xfinity Mobile, and others.
The June update for the Galaxy Note 20 series in Europe, meanwhile, carries the firmware version N98xxXS2DUF1. We don’t have a changelog handy but the firmware versions indicate the update doesn’t bring any new features apart from the security fixes for this month.
The Galaxy S20 FE 5G, on the other hand, is currently receiving the June security update in Baltic countries. The update comes with firmware version G781BXXU3CUE3. Samsung had released the latest update for this phone in China and Hong Kong a couple of days ago. The rollout should expand to more territories over the course of this week.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a changelog for this device as well. However, it appears the Galaxy S20 FE 5G is getting some extra features or improvements with this update, along with the latest security fixes.
Talking about security fixes, Samsung has yet to publish the details about what the June 2021 Android security patch contains. However, the company has been rapidly pushing the new update to its devices over the past couple of weeks. This accelerated pace suggests the June SMR might be an important one. We will keep you updated as soon as Samsung releases the latest security bulletin.
Nonetheless, if you own either of the Galaxy Note 20 phones or the Galaxy S20 FE 5G, be on the lookout for the June security update in the coming days. You should receive a notification to download the update over the air (OTA). You can also manually check for updates from your phone’s Settings app. Simply navigate to the Software update menu and tap Download and install. If there’s an OTA update available, you’ll be prompted to download it on the next screen.
