Fans of Amazfit’s smartwatches and fitness watches are in for a treat, as the company has just launched its newest set of wearables. Amazfit just launched its GTR 3 series of fitness watches, the GTR 3 and the GTR 3 Pro. These watches aren’t only pretty, they’re pretty long-lasting.
The base model is already a pretty nice watch
The base model looks like your typical fitness watch with its minimalist design. The body is made from an aluminum alloy, and it has two hardware buttons. As for colors, there’s a Thunder Black color and a Moonlight Gray color.
The watch has a rounded 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 454 x 454; that gives it a pixel density of 326 PPI. The display is covered in tempered glass with an anti-fingerprint coating.
As for sensors, the GTR 3 has a heart rate monitor and BioTracker 3.0 PPG which supports a blood oxygen sensor. It also has a gyroscope, accelerometer, geomagnetic sensor, barometer, and an ambient light sensor.
Amazfit seems to have put a lot of effort into the battery for the GTR series 3 fitness watches. Both of the watches are sporting a 450mAh battery, and according to the company, it takes an average of two hours to charge from empty to full. Amazfit claims that you can squeeze out 21 days of juice with typical usage.
It’s hard to say what Amazfit considers “typical” usage, but you’ll get an impressive 10 days with heavy usage. This could mean constantly using your watch to reply to messages and other activities. If you have the battery saver mode on, you could get up to 35 days of battery life.
The Pro model has a few extra goodies.
Both models are pretty similar in terms of specs and aesthetics, but the GTR 3 Pro comes with some good perks. Firstly, the display is slightly bigger at 1.45 inches, and the resolution is 480 x 480; this gives it a pixel density of 331 PPI.
The body has the same aluminum alloy and two buttons, but the pro model will come in a Brown Leather color and anInfinite Black color. The GTR 3 Pro has all the same sensors as the base model but with the addition of a thermometer. While the base model has Bluetooth 5, the pro model also has WLAN 2.4GHz connectivity.
The Amazfit GTR 3 series fitness watches don’t use Wear OS
On the software side, these two watches use an operating system known as Zepp OS and not Wear OS. This OS is praised for being really lightweight, being under 60MBs in size. It’s an operating system that was born with health and fitness in mind. It replaced Amazfit OS shortly after being created.
If you want to use this OS with these watches, the Amazfit GTR 3 will run you $180, and the pro model will run you $230. They are available now, so you can order them today.
