Last updated on March 9, 2021

The van Mercedes eSprinter has only been on the market for a short time, when the manufacturer announced a new version on a different platform.

Mercedes-Benz Vans intends to launch the eSprinter on the basis of its newly developed Electric Versatility Platform before 2025 and also sell it in the USA and Canada. The current model is not yet old and is only sold in Europe.

The new eSprinter is offered in three battery and numerous body variants from panel vans and minibuses to chassis for box bodies, the company announced. The vehicle will be converted to the new Electric Versatility Platform.

“The next eSprinter generation will allow for different body styles. With this variability, we are bringing the advantages of locally emission-free goods transport to a wide range of industries,” said Marcus Breitschwerdt, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans.

The design should allow two different vehicle lengths. The battery can be up to 100 kWh in size and thus achieve a high range. It is interesting to note an assessment by Breitschwert in the Automobilwoche that electrically powered motor homes could also have a chance on the market. This segment has been developed so far cumbers.

The company has invested 350 million euros in the new platform and intends to produce the next generation of the eSprinter in a CO2-neutral way. Mercedes-Benz has not yet provided any technical data for vans.
