Qi-Charger: iPhone 12 models with power problems

Last updated on December 6, 2020

With the new iPhones there are difficulties with wireless charging and batteries that run out too quickly.

Some iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 users report problems with their batteries. In standby they drain conspicuously. This goes so far that after a few hours only 50 percent is available. This speaks for energy-intensive background processes that are not terminated or start again and again.

The iOS operating system has been offering a way to display apps according to their energy consumption for quite some time, but there are no anomalies here. In some cases, it has proven to be useful to set up the smartphone from scratch and not from a backup. Apple will probably present a software update here soon to fix the problems.

This also seems to apply to another problem: With some Qi chargers, the new iPhone 12 models cannot be reliably charged. Users report apparently random charge interruptions in connection with devices that still worked without problems with the iPhone 11.

This also applies to brand manufacturers. Users have already been informed by Apple support after a report from 9to5Mac that Apple is working on a solution that is to be distributed with the help of a software update. Apple did not reveal when this is the case.
