Touch issues: Apple Launches iPhone 11 Display Repair Program

Apple has started a display replacement program for the iPhone 11 because some screens do not accept touch input after a while.

The displays of certain iPhone 11 do not work properly after a while and do not accept touch input. Apple has now started an exchange program for this.

Only a small percentage of smartphones is affected, the company announced. Repair at Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider is free of charge if the smartphone is otherwise not damaged.

The problems do not affect the Pro models but only the normal iPhone 11. The defective devices were manufactured between November 2019 and May 2020.

In order to check whether your iPhone 11 should be repaired, the user must first determine the serial number. This can be found in the settings under General and then under the menu item About. The serial number can also be found on the invoice of the smartphone or the original packaging.

If you want, you can enter this number on a support website of Apple to find out if your own device is affected. Apple will replace the displays free of charge for up to two years after the product goes on sale. However, only if the iPhone 11 does not show any damage that would hinder repair – such as a broken cover glass. This must first be repaired at the user’s expense.

Whoever had his iPhone 11 repaired at his own expense because of a no longer working touchscreen display should also check the serial number. In case of a hit, customers should contact Apple for a possible refund.
